Homemade Hollywood, my tome on the history of fan films, has been nominated for a Rondo Award for “Best Book!”

There is a lot of intriguing stuff nominated this year, and to be honest, I don’t expect to win, but I’ll still give it try. Please take a minute to vote for the book and whatever other categories you want to weigh in on; you don’t have to vote for all of them. They’re accepting ballots until midnight, March 21, 2009; winners are announced the following night. Click the little sign to go vote!

Thanks to awards organizer David Colton; the Classic Horror Film Board, which runs the awards; and the folks who nominated the book. I’m mighty grateful for the opportunity, and have my fingers crossed that I’ll wind up with that ugly mug sitting in a place of honor in my home.

Fan Film Programs:

As promised, a New York City fan film/book launch event will take place with a night of fan films at the world-famous, world-revered ANTHOLOGY FILM ARCHIVES in New York City, presented as part of the New Filmmakers Festival. Five words for you: FAN FILMS ON THE SILVER SCREEN!

The show is Friday, April 3 at 9PM, and it’s only SIX FREAKIN’ BUCKS, so you have time to get out of work/school, go home, eat, hit the bars and still show up in time for two hours of classic and world-premiere fan productions (plus me doing the PowerPoint thing on the history of fan productions, enough to make you laugh, cry and buy my fan film book, Homemade Hollywood, which not-so-coincidentally will be available for purchase somewhere in the joint).

Also in the house that night:

–CHRIS NOTARILE of Blinky Productions with a world premiere to be named at a later date (probably Ultimate Daredevil).

–ADAM BERTOCCI of TheForce.net with the highly buzzed Brooklyn Force.

The latest issue of the Star Trek Phase II zine is out with my interview in it. The WRHU morning show interview went off without a hitch and I hope to have a link to it soon. Another fun interview is on the way, so keep yer eyes peeled.

Fan Cinema Today:

That big surprise I mentioned last month? The massive redesign and relaunch of my blessed fan film blog. The hit count has gone through the roof since then, so I guess the freshening up helped. If you haven’t already checked it out, take a look around!
